Reopening information

Welcome to everyone who has been inquiring about starting classes at WonderDogs and to all our current students whose patience and understanding has been phenomenal these past few months.

We will be reopening on Monday, July 6th.  For the first week, hours will be somewhat different than usual:  Monday 10-6, Tuesday 10-9, Wednesday 10-6, Thursday 10-9, Friday 10-6, Saturday 9-4 and Sunday 11-5.  These hours will likely revert to our regular schedule the following week.

We will be calling and/or emailing all students whose sessions were interrupted to confirm their attendance as we resume their classes. We will not be giving refunds for any sessions that had to be postponed but we will issue credit for any unused classes for anyone who chooses not to resume class when it restarts.

Because we need to finish up all those interrupted classes, we will be posting tentative start dates for new sessions on Sunday or Monday.  Please remember that these may change as circumstances indicate.  You may sign up on line, by phone or by mailing a check.  If you are a new student, please fill out the enrollment form on line to help facilitate your registration.  All students, current and future, are required to agree to the following guidelines:

Here are the best practices we will be undertaking and asking for your compliance.

In general

Everyone must wear a mask when in the building.  No exceptions.

Please register online or by phone whenever possible to minimize traffic in the office.

We are asking that you not enter the building until a staff member indicates you may do so.  The class that may be taking place before yours must be allowed to exit safely before the next class enters.

Seating in the entry area will be placed a minimum of 6’ apart.  Please do not move the chairs.

Please bring water for your own dog if you choose to.  No individual waterers or communal water bowls will be available.

You may bring your own seating if you prefer.

There will be no shared crates.  If you need or prefer to crate your dog, feel free to bring a crate with you or crate in your car.

We will have hands free soap dispensers and hand sanitizers in both rest rooms, the office and at the front door.

Entry area

A hand sanitizing station will be available.  We recommend you utilize it as necessary as you arrive and leave.

Chairs arms will be sanitized after each class.

Please respect the required 6’ distance between students at all times.

Only 1 person may be in the store at any given time.  Paper bags instead of plastic will be provided for purchases. You will be asked to tell us your credit card information rather than handing you card to a staff member to swipe it.

Unless absolutely necessary, only 1 person/dog will be allowed in class.  One additional family member over 18 years of age may sit in the entry area during class.  Using Zoom or other virtual methods of sharing your lessons with other family members will be allowed and encouraged since we recognize that training your dog is a family affair.

Instructors will not be demonstrating exercises with students’ dogs in pet dog classes as we did in the past.  We will not be offering our supply of treats, toys and equipment to share with students.  Please make sure you bring everything you need each week.

Some classes may be held outdoors if and when appropriate.

Most handouts will be given at one time at the beginning of your session instead of doled out weekly as previously done.

Any exercises considered impossible to execute under the current restrictions will be modified to make them safe and practical.

Please allow your dog to relieve itself before class to minimize unnecessary movement and distractions.

For members and graduating students, we will soon have an online way to take advantage of any discount to which you may be entitled.

We are doing everything we can to keep our pets, customers and employees safe and to keep our operations running at normal levels. In light of COVID-19, we’re increasing the frequency and extent of daily cleanings and taking extra operational steps to ensure that you & your pet can continue to enjoy the benefits of your time at WonderDogs.

The facility will be open on Monday, July 6 but please check the web site for information on new start dates.

We are committed to doing what is right for our employees, guests & clients during this challenging time.

Our success is measured in the results we achieve:

I know this is a little early and I hope I do not jinx us, however, I am amazed of the transformation of my puppy Koji even after our initial puppy classes. Koji has become more joyous to live with. The philosophy of your school appears to be working.
Happy, happy, joy, joy.

Thank you for providing such a warm, safe, educational, fun environment for us to learn in. My goal was to have a happy, well adjusted pet and Daisy's progress has far exceeded my expectations. You're an amazing person and a wonderful teacher. Honestly, I can't beleive how much you know (or should I say much I don't / didn't know). You have touched and made a difference in our lives as I'm sure you have done countless times for others. Thanks again for your guidance and for all that you do for our 4 legged family members.

With warm regards,
Mariann(& Daisy)

I have always respected you for your love of animals and know that you only choose to do what you feel is best for dogs.

WonderDogs strength is its people. The very experienced instructors can actually teach. Their ability to communicate makes learning straightforward as well as fun for both dogs and owners. Despite our one and a half hour trip to training class we continue to attend because our dog enjoys the classes and remains enthusiastic and engaged the whole time we're there.

While a very energetic and enthusiastic dog even at nearly 2 years old, Ella has a set of tools that I draw on daily. She and I have a strong bond that I attribute to our work together at WonderDogs. Our course work helped us to have this successful relationship and kept Ella mentally stimulated as well. Barbara and the entire staff are knowledgeable, helpful and honest. They helped me in a productive, non-punitive way and as a result, I am now equipped to better understand my dog's needs and my role in maintaining her well-mannered behavior.

We began with Puppy HeadStart and handling classes at WonderDogs and at just 9 ms. of age, our Chow Chow, Tai Shan, became a breed Champion. We are very proud of him!
Debbie P.

My Sheltie, Misty, placed first and qualified in the first agility trial she ever competed in. She's come a long way since her Puppy Agility class at WonderDogs!

I have been wanting to write to you to say one huge THANK YOU for all of your teaching, time and patience with me. With all your knowledge, experience and love of animals, you just taught me more than I ever believed possible. I'm just so grateful that we came to you and took this whole training program seriously.

We at Gray Fox Animal Hospital have been happy referring our patients to WonderDogs for years. happy and controlled relationships between people and their dogs. This has been invaluable both for "problem" dogs that need to behave better and for people and dogs that wish to have more fun together. Their approach is positive, non-stressful and, above all, fun.

Barbara Kahn is an outstanding trainer with decades of experience. Her knowledge of and passion for our animal companions is a true gift that allows our pets to reach their ultimate potential as loving members of their familes. I highly recommend her services and beautiful training center.

I've had many satisfied clients who have been very happy with their WonderDogs experience. I've recommended clients with problem dogs throughout the years with good results. Since I believe that a well trained pet is a happy pet, I shall continue to refer clients to WonderDogs.

I wish there were a training facility in Southern California like WonderDogs! Do you know ANY place in that neck of the woods for my daughter's puppy? At first glance, ntohing offered there can hold a candle to the classes you provide.

Just a brief email to let you know how fabulous your training program is.
As you are aware, my puppy, Sophie, began her training with another school and I was very disappointed. There was no structure to the training and no written materials to refresh one's memory between classes. Actually, I cried all the way home after the second lesson.
Your training is superior in more ways than I can state here. It provides an understanding of why a dog behaves the way it does. You provide extremely detailed lesson materials and hands on training. You and your assistants provide individual help and are patient to a fault. the dogs really respect you. Sophie and I actually enjoy going to the training and look forward to it every week. We are both much happier.
Barbara W.

I can't even say enough good things about you! Doing rescue is very rewarding but sometimes with dogs like Bubba, your heart really goes out. I was so afraid of what you might say abouthim the day I brought him to you. Your advice was perfect for him and he now has a brand new chance at life. I thank you and I'm sure he does too!
Diane from HeavenSent Bulldog Rescue

Barbara and the staff at WonderDogs use positive reinforcement training techniques that not only teach your dog to behave but to WANT to behave. I have never met people who understand dogs better! I look forward to continuing to recommend WonderDogs to my clients.

Many people have complimented me on Marlin's training. I really believe in your philosophy of continuing to train your dog throughout its life. Marlin just passed his Canine Good Citizen test. Thanks! You had a big impact on Marlin and me.

Each day I confidently recommend WonderDogs to my clients because I have seen the benefits of positive training. The staff at WonderDogs has trained many of my patients. I love to see the bond develop between dogs and clients as they completed basic training and continue into advanced activities.

WonderDogs is an amazing dog training facility that offers classes in socialization, obedience and fun activities for owners and dogs. As a veterinarian, I recommend WonderDogs to all new puppies and adoptions as a way to help families create a well rounded dog. I have attended many classes with each of my Bullmastiffs. As a result, my dogs are well trained and continually impress people with their good manners.

My husband and I attended orientation last night and wanted to take a moment to say BRAVO! We truly enjoyed it. You are so animated and colorful and really convey the true spirit of puppy training. I found everything to be so reinforcing and informative.

Thank you so much for making such a difference in our lives. It is such a joy to have both these dogs as companions. I had heard stories about how dog training can work wonders, but somehow thought that was for very special people who had a particular gift for it. The transformations that I witnessed in my own dogs were amazing. I am a better owner now and never need to worry about my dogs being badly with others. Since they now know their place and what is expected of them and they are so happy. Thanks again!

I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how well Maggie has turned out thanks to your classes. We had her back at the breeder for 2 weeks while we were away and she couldn't have been more impressed with her eye contact and behavior skills. Thanks again for running a great training facility: we couldn't have made it through puppydom without you and your staff.

We wanted to express our pleasure with the Terrible Teens class that Buster just completed. It was a first experience for all of us as he's our first dog. He's listening so much better and now we have many techniques to remember and contiue using. You were patient, dedicated teachers who showed your affection for animals by using a loving reward system. We hopeto take another class in the futue and, until then, this little Bulldog is a "Not So Terrible Teen!"
