Andrea Hering - Agility
Andrea Hering has always had a love of animals and with the adoption of her first dog, she was hooked on dog training, specifically agility! Her pack now consists of rescue dogs Knox, Rusty and Grant. Rusty, her 8 year old Golden Retriever mix, earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dog Certification and is a Crisis Response Dog. Andrea competes with her 8 year old Lab mix Knox in agility competitions, earning many advanced AKC and CPE titles. Last but not least, Grant, a 9 year old Golden Retriever, has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen and just loves doing what he does best-being a golden!
Andrea is always gaining new knowledge by attending dog training and behavioral seminars as well as extensive research and reading.
The devotion Andrea has with her "boys" has taught her that training with patience and humor goes a long way. She believes that motivational training forges a strong dog-owner bond and enjoys empowering owners to bring out the best in their dogs and, likewise, in themselves. A great example of her training in practice is Knox. His athletic ability was immediately apparent and starting agility training made sense, but Andrea also realized early on that Knox was a reactive dog and sought to resolve this issue. Andrea's research on how to deal with reactive/anxious dogs, was key to Knox overcoming his issue. Andrea and Knox have become a very successful agility team.
With her experience as an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, Therapy Dog Prep Instructor, Alliance of Therapy Dog Tester/Observer and a Co-Founder of the Tri-State K-9 Crisis Response Team, Andrea looks forward to sharing her skills in her agility classes!
